Gilbert G. "Froggie" Age - 82 - La Martinez

GILBERT G. “FROGGIE” MARTINEZ, 82, a resident of La Puebla, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 21, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosario and Delfinia Martinez; son, Christopher Martinez; brother, Paul Martinez and sister, Mabel McReynolds. Gilbert was instrumental in installing water systems within the small communities of northern New Mexico. He loved gardening, fishing and being in the great outdoors. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Martinez is survived by his daughter, Nellie Martinez of Rio Rancho; grandson, Ziad Hussain of California; sisters, Stella Martinez of La Puebla and Ciria Borrego and husband Santiago of Santa Cruz; brother, Juan Martinez and wife Ruth of La Puebla; caregivers, Gloria Ulibarri and Maria Jimenez and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Monday, February 25, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial to follow at the La Puebla Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Leslie McReynolds, Louis Martinez, Louis Martinez, Jr., Matthew Herrera, John D. Griego and Henry Romero. The family of Gilbert G. ‘Froggie” Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
