GILBERT B. PACHECO SR., 85, a resident of Rio Lucio, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 following a lengthy illness. Gilbert was preceded in death by his father, Cruz Pacheco, mother, Rosarito Martinez; brothers, John and Henry Pacheco; sisters, Ursula Duran, Gertude Roybal, Sofia Vigil, Eloisa Sanchez and Estella Vigil. Gilbert was a lifelong resident of Rio Lucio. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 and was a veteran of the Korean War.  He was known to many as a hard worker, where he worked in the mining industry for many years. He was a loving father and grandfather, he loved to garden and can his goods from what was harvested. He enjoyed cooking and his time at the casino. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.  He is survived by the mother of his children, Petronila Maria Pacheco; sisters, Josie Tafoya (late husband, Joe), Ruby Ortega (Tony), sons, Gilbert B. Pacheco Jr., Leroy J. Pacheco (Elaine), Richard A. Pacheco; adopted son, Bobby Pacheco; daughters, Maria Grace Martinez, Emily Ortega, and Gloria Martinez; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  Pallbearers who will be taking Gilbert to his final resting place will be as follows; Marcos Martinez, Antonio Martinez, Joseph Martinez, Roy Arellano, Ralph Arellano and Isaiah Pacheco; honorary pallbearers will be all his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Public Visitation will begin on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday January 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family of Gilbert B.
