Gilbert Herrera Jr.

Gilbert Herrera Jr., 40, a resident of Santa Fe, passed away from a lengthy illness on Monday, August 6, 2018. He was born in Glenwood Springs, Colorado on December 16, 1977. Preceding him in death is his mother, Peggy Roybal; paternal grandparents, Avenicio and Adelina Maestas; uncles, Leroy, Joseph, Lawrence Maestas; Auntie Isabel Jaramillo and cousins, Michelle Herrera and Ernest Jaramillo. Gilbert was a very cheerful person who loved to joke around, enjoyed the outdoors but mostly fishing. He was a kind of guy that would go out of his way to help in whatever way he could. Gilbert was very passionate about his family and enjoyed being around his aunties, uncles and his cousins. Gilbert will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. Gilbert is survived by his son, Andres Dow and fiancé, Esperanza Trujillo; grandson, Santino; father, Gilbert Herrera Sr. and Theresa Herrera of Chamita who was a loving mother to Gilbert Jr.; step-brother, Santiago and wife Anna Martinez; sister, Jessica Roybal and fiancé Carl of Albuquerque; brother, Anthony Trujillo of Albuquerque; nephews, Santos Martinez, Lee and Davonn Roybal; nieces, Joslyn Martinez and Latisha Roybal; very special Auntie, Becky and many more aunts, uncles and cousins. A rosary will be recited on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. also at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with burial to follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
