Gilbert Fuentes

Gilbert Thomas Fuentes, a resident of Truchas, entered into the gates of heaven on Saturday, November 21, 2015. He was born to Gilbert and Floy Fuentes on July 24, 1947. At the age of 3 he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and at the age of 5 he was diagnosed with scoliosis of the spine and polio. Thomas graduated from Santa Cruz High School in 1965 and soon after went to work for LANL (back then (LASL) as a senior computer log accountant for the original Cray Computer System. He worked there for 13 years and then was granted a disability retirement. Thomas is survived by his Loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Ina; a nephew he treated like a son, Joaquin Juarez; mother, Floy Fuentes; sisters and brothers, Dolores and husband Richard Guzman, Elena and husband Raul Ortiz, Jerry and companion Gloria Castillo, and Patrick Fuentes; brother in-law, John Ray; Nieces and Nephews, Melissa Lopez and her two daughters Analise and Adrianna, John Herrera, Amanda and husband Kenneth Clenaghan and son Michael, Alicia Guzman and companion Brendon Gordon, Adam Fuentes, Mathew Fuentes and his son Julian, Joseph Fuentes and companion Tess and their children Josephine, Jon, Jovan, Steven Fuentes and companion Renee and son Steven Gilbert. Mr. Fuentes is preceded in death by his father Gilbert Fuentes; infant brother, Juan Benito; maternal grandparents, Juanita and Rosenaldo Montoya; paternal grandparents, Eloisa and Isaias Fuentes, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Truchas, with a burial to follow at Los Llanitos Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are Joaquin Juarez, Jerry and Patrick Fuentes, David Montoya, Steve Gongora, and Joseph Fuentes. Honorary pallbearers are his God children, Melissa Lopez, and Trish Herrera, nieces and nephews, John Herrera, Amanda Clenaghan, Alicia Guzman, Adam, Mathew, and Steven Fuentes, and padrinos de matrimonio to Harry and Leslie Cordova. Thomas touched many hearts with his amazing smile. He loved listening to all kinds of music and shared his love for music with all. Thomas will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
