Gerson Arellano – Age 79 a resident of Dixon passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents: Delfino and Beatrice Arellano; infant son, Ralph Arellano; parents-in-law: Jose Dolores and Juanita Valdez. He was employed at the Los Alamos National Laboratory for 33 years as a senior designer. He was a Korean War Veteran. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening and loved pitching on the Dixon baseball team. He loved the casino and traveling after retirement and enjoyed doing wood working. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alice Arellano of Dixon; children: Ralph Arellano of Dixon, Bea Arellano-Tedrow and fiancé James Mullin of Ohio, James Arellano and wife JoAnna of Española, Eddie Arellano and wife Emelita of Alaska and Tim Arellano and wife Irene of Alaska; grandchildren: Roy, Ralph, Jr., Andrea, Amanda, Renee, Eddie, Jr., Valerie, Olivia, Savanna and Alyssa Arellano; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings: Bertha Luscier and husband Jerry, Shirley Archuleta, Lorraine Sanchez, Anita Sanchez and husband Tom, Delfino Arellano, Jr. and wife Cordy and Augustine Arellano and wife Marty; and numerous other loving relatives and friends too many to mention. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. A second devotional service will be held on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Embudo Presbyterian Church in Dixon. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Embudo Presbyterian Church in Dixon. Burial will follow at the Presbyterian Cemetery in Dixon with the following serving as pallbearers: Roy, Ralph, Jr., Eddie, Jr. and Lee Arellano and Wayne and Victor Archuleta. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Benjy Valdez, Paul Arellano and Michael Sanchez. The family of Gerson Arellano has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
