George P. Vigil Jr., 78, a lifelong resident of Guachupangue, passed away on Tuesday, September 6th, 2016. He enjoyed being with his family, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and being with his animals and loved kids. George Portrayed Juan De Onate in 1975, he served in the U.S. Army and retired from the Los Alamos County and New Mexico State Legislature. George took a lot of pride in all he did. He was proceeded in death by his parents, George and Juanita Vigil; his beloved son, Gene Vigil and brother Phillip Vigil. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Lucy vigil; daughter Georgia Vigil/Valdez; son Mark Vigil; late son Gene Vigil; sister Flora and husband Ernesto Salazar, and Christina Baca who was like a daughter to him and Dennis Montoya who was like a son to him; grandchildren James Valdez, Julie Vigil, Jolene Trujillo, Anthony Vigil, Santana Vigil; great grandchildren James Valdez Jr., Jaziah Valerio/Valdez, Elyanna Rivera, and countless family and beloved friends and animals Rhonda, Rico, Tootsie, and Gata. . Public visitation will begin on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española. The family of George P. Vigil has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
