George Benavidez 49, a resident of Ojo Caliente passed away unexpectedly on October 30, 2024. 

George was preceded in death by his parents Bonifacio and Rose Benavidez, nephew Aaron Benavidez and brother-in-Law Mario Lovato.

George will always be remembered by his incredible musical talent in Northern New Mexico music, where he was the lead vocalist and keyboardist for Heritage and Especial and many other local bands. He adored and loved his daughter Marissa and his grandchildren and the rest of his family. His personality was contagious, and he loved to make new friends. He was an avid Denver Bronco Fan. He will be missed by all.

George is survived by his daughter Marissa Benavidez, grandchildren Noah, Eden, and Aria Gallegos, step-son Isaiah Salazar, sister Theresa Benavidez, brother Phillip Benavidez, nephews, Phillip Benavidez Jr., Ian Lovato and Jehoran Quintana, nieces Kimberly Romero, (Fabian), LeeAnn Quintana and Kaitlyn Lovato, and great nieces and nephew, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. 

A rosary will be prayed on Wednesday November 13, 2024 at 11:00am with a mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:00pm at the San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez. Burial to follow at the San Jose Cemetery in Hernandez. 

The family of George Benavidez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home of the Espanola Valley 505-747-7477.
