George M. Arrietta, 75, a resident of Pojoaque, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2016. George was born on July 7, 1941 in Tucumcari, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Josephina Arrietta and sister, Ramona Maestas. Mr. Arrietta is survived by his children, Lenora Arrietta (Donald) of Santa Clara, Lisa Arrietta-Perez (Rigo) of Chimayo, Mike Arrietta (Dina) of Pojoaque; sister, Bertha Romero of Pojoaque; brother, Edward Arrietta of Espanola; parents of his children; Louise and Juan Jimenez of Pojoaque; grandchildren, Lee Moquino of Santa Clara, Manuel Archuleta (Antoinette), Kenneth Archuleta, Christopher Arrietta (Rhiannon) and Norman Archuleta (Mariah), Reanna and Monique Arrietta all of Pojoaque; great-grandchildren, Amaya Archuleta, Adam Arrietta and Austin Archuleta and many other relatives and friends. George was a philosopher who loved horses. “The outside of a horse was good for the inside of a man,” he once stated. George enjoyed spending the last years of his life caring for his granddaughters, Reanna and Monique. He had a special bond with each of them. George was a kind and exceptional man who was quick witted and a jokester. He had a keen sense of humor. George was a proud enrolled member of the Yaqui Nation and proud of his unique Native and Western Culture. He loved riding horses and today he rode into the sunset. May he rest in peace. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 6:30p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory with recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque, with graveside services to follow at the Pojoaque Catholic Cemetery. Serving the family of George M. Arrietta as pallbearers are, Santo Arrietta, Salvador Valdivia, Manuel Archuleta, Christopher Arrietta, Norman and Kenny Archuleta. Honorary pallbearers are, Cindy Ewing, Aiden Coriz, Reanna and Monique Arrietta, Rigo Perez, and Amaya Archuleta. The family of George M.
