GARY LEE TALACHY SR., 63, a resident of Espanola, a devoted Christian and lover of our Lord Jesus Christ, was called home on Wednesday, October 5, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amarante and Crucita Talachy; brothers, Roy and Joe Talache, sister, Stella Tanner; brother-in-law, Les Tanner; niece, Kim Vigil, nephews, Justin Vigil, Mark Talachy, Lenny Gutierrez; father-in-law, Edward Martinez; stepson, Jeremy Montoya Sr.; and grandson, Zacharia King. Gary was a 1970 graduate from Santa Fe Indian School in Santa Fe, soon after he enlisted in the Air Force where he served as a sergeant and Physician Assistant. At his return home he served in the Medical field. Gary also worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory as a machinist and later on at Contract Associates. He loved to make pottery and was great designer and Artist, much of his art was sold. Gary was a very gentle and intelligent man. He was an outdoors man, he loved to go hunting and fishing. He also was a great dancer for San Juan Feast. Gary demonstrated great patience during the lengthy illness he endured. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. The grandchildren will always remember him for giving them a blessing (prayer) and making the sign of the cross on their forehead. Gary leaves behind the loved of his life, his wife, Flora Talachy who stood by his side through his sickness or health; daughter, Jewel Gonzales (Eric); step-son, Steve Montoya Jr. (Lilyanna), son, Gary Talachy II, daughters, Povi (Joseph), Agoyo (James); sister, Mary Gutierrez, brother, LoJoe Talachy (Thelma); sister-in-law, Helen Talachy; and mother-in-law, Dulce Martinez. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Victor Faith Church in Española. Burial to follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Clarence Cata, Steve Montoya, Eric Gonzales, Charlie Marquez, Eppie Tapia, James Duran, Gary Talachy II, and Curtis Ortiz, honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren, Jeremy and Jeneva Steve III, Andrea, Edward Adaya, Mateo, Jacobi, Heaven Lee, Tonni, Adam, Ian, Santiago, Hailey, Dominic and Elena.
