Gary W. Bequette

Gary was born in Hastings, Nebraska to Marcella and Bernell Bequette. They moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico in 1951. Where he was a long time resident. Gary served the Community in many ways. He was involved in baseball, softball, Police League, Leader of Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, the Los Alamos Posse Fair and Rodeo, Senior Appreciation Night, Emmaus, and Kiaros Prison Ministry.
Gary retired from the Los Alamos Police Department, as acting Chief, after 22 years of service. He also worked at the Los Alamos Ski Hill and Los Alamos National Laboratory along with various other positions throughout the community. Gary attended Aspen Elementary in 1951 the first year it was built and was a Graduate of Los Alamos High School in 1957.
Gary and Cheryl retired to Anderson, South Carolina where they enjoyed many years of fishing, bowling, golfing, playing cards with friends, and taking trips in the motorhome
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Cheryl Bequette, of Anderson, SC. His sister Marilyn Ryan (Don) of Colorado; his children Linda Bequette of Chamita, NM; Charla Wescott of Las Cruces, NM; daughter-in-law Gail Bequette of Albuquerque, NM; Bryan Bequette (Kelly) of Nebraska City, NE; Debra Dalton (Wayne), Laura Hughes (Mark), and Diana Bequette all of Los Alamos, NM along with grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Proceeded in death by his parents Marcella and Bernell Bequette, son John Bequette and sons-in-law Cody Wescott, and James Dalton
Gary's services will be at the Methodist Church (715 Diamond Drive, Los Alamos, NM) September 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM followed by a burial at Guaje Pines Cemetery. A reception is to follow at the Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, to honor Gary’s memory please consider donating in his name, to Los Alamos High School’s-Senior Appreciation Night care of Los Alamos YMCA. Gary was the original coordinator of Senior Appreciation Night.
