Freddie Ocaña Jr., beloved son, father, brother, uncle and friend passed away unexpectedly on March 11, 2025, at the age of 39, a life-long resident of El Rito, NM. Freddie was born on January 10, 1986, to Freddie and Carol Ocaña.

Freddie’s pride and joy was his son Ezekiah. He loved every moment he got to spend with him, always encouraging Ezekiah to do his best. Freddie was truly a PROUD FATHER! Freddie also had a special place in heart for his niece Kaylee Love Ocaña, cherishing the bond they shared. Freddie was an artist and a man of all traits. Freddie’s big smile, humor and unwavering love for the things that brought him joy will forever be remembered by those who knew him.

Freddie was preceded in death by his brother Darrick Ocaña; paternal grandfather Albert Ocaña; maternal grandfather Johnny Lucero; aunts Tammy Griego and Cherry Lucero; uncles Johnny Lucero Jr., Johnny Lucero III and Duane Ocaña.

Freddie is survived by the light of his life, his son Ezekiah Malachi Ocaña (mother of Ezekiah, Veronica); and his cherished niece/God-daughter Kaylee Love Ocaña. Also surviving him are his parents Freddie and Carol Ocaña, whom he had a special bond with and a special place in his heart for; brother Brandon (Rosemary) and niece Haidyn; paternal grandmother Ayola Ocaña; maternal grandmother Alice Lucero; God-parents Gino and Noel Ocaña; God-brothers Steven and Daniel Ocaña; God-sister Krista Garcia; uncle Billy (Victoria) Lucero; aunt Christina Ocaña; as well as numerous cousins who were like siblings.

serving as Pallbearers are Ezekiah Ocana, Brandon Ocana, Daniel Ocana, Steven Ocana, Charles Marufo, and Ariel Paez.

A Public Visitation will begin on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 5:00 pm in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM, with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:30 am at the San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church in El Rito followed by a burial at the El Rito Community Cemetery.
