FREDDIE R. MAESTAS, SR., 43, a resident of Ranchos de Taos, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 13, 2012. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Eloy and Carmen Maestas. He loved music, writing songs and playing his guitar. He loved riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family. He taught his son’s to play the guitar and his daughter Dilia to sing. He was currently teaching his daughter, Randi, to play the bass guitar and enjoyed time spent together. Mr. Maestas is survived by his children, Randi L. Wolfe, Maria Dilia Archuleta, Freddie R. Maestas, Jr., Rikki Eloy Carmen Maestas all of Taos; mother, Millie Amaya of Española; grandchildren, Matthew James Asher LeDoux, Sophia Maestas and Madison Jamie Ashlin LeDoux; mother of his children, Patricia LeDoux of Bernalillo; aunt who was like a second mom, Joan Maestas of Taos; close family friend, Richard Hammitt of Taos and numerous other relatives and friends. Rosary will be recited on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Francisco of Assis Catholic Church in Taos. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francisco of Assis Catholic Church in Taos with burial to follow at Talpa Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Freddie R. Maestas, Jr., Alfonso and Rudy Perea, Tim Torrez, Gabe Casias, Rikki Maestas and Chris Romo. Donations may be made at People’s Bank in Taos or Century Bank in Espanola, to help the family with funeral expenses. The family of Freddie R. Maestas, Sr. has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
