FRED F. “KEKO” SANCHEZ, 68, was born on February 6, 1947 to (and preceded in death by) Federico Sanchez and Josephine Salazar. Keko went to be with our Lord and Savior after a lengthy illness. He was born in Monte Vista, Colorado but called Chama, New Mexico his home for the past 35 years.  He was also preceded by a son, Jerome L. Baldonado; brothers Bernado and Lawrence Salazar and Gary Sanchez; maternal Grandmother, Esther Maestas; brother-in-law, Cipriano Valdez; Mother and Father-in-law, Jose Jesus and Antonita Baldonado; sister-in-law, Connie Ross and brother-in-law, Manuel Baldonado.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Maria Piedad; children Lenny (CO)  and Freddy Sanchez (KS); Jessica M. Rich (Donald), Antonio Sanchez (Kelly), Franky Sanchez (Nalisha) and Lencho Sanchez; Grandchildren Zachary Rich, Yvonna Sanchez, Maurissa Frazen, (CO), Jose Sanchez (Briana), (CO), Malacai Salazar, McKinzie, Madison and Alexandria Limback-Sanchez, Jerome Sanchez-Harvey (his little Buddy) and Jesus Samora. He loved Mariska Bachicha like his own grand-daughter. Keko is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Marcella Regensberg (Albert), Priscilla Diaz (Felix) Joey Sanchez, Linda Rodriguez (Mario), Mary Ellen Velesaquez (Moses), Diane Sanchez, (all of CO), Tomas Sanchez (Kim) (SD), Freda Salazar (Miguel), Michelle Salazar and Elsie Gutierrez (Fred) (all of CO). Also, his Aunt Doris Leyba, (CO) and sisters-in-law, Asucena Valdez and Judith Baldonado; and best friend and brother-in-law, Steve Moya; and many Nieces and Nephews and Cousins, whom he loved very much.
Keko was an amazing and loyal Husband, Dad, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend. His Grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was the strongest man his children knew.  He was an avid Denver Broncos fan; he also loved fishing, skiing, hiking, working on his yard, collecting antiques and anything “interesting,” reading, music and was looking forward to “the pinon” this year.
Memorial Services will take place in Chama on September 25, 2015 at the Chama Community Church with Pastor Jimmy Martinez officiating at 11:00 with a burial following at the Chama Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers are Michael “Mikey George” Martinez, Kevin Esquibel, Davey Valdez, Rick Martinez, Jesse Moya, Chad King, and Leifer Samora all of Chama and the Jiron Brothers of Monte Vista, Colorado, and all his Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.
