Fred Dupre, 58, a resident of Alcalde, passed away of a short illness on Saturday, June 21, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Frutosa Dupre; uncle, Thomas Dupre; granddaughter, April Dupre. Fred was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was an active member of La Morada de los Pachecos. Fred was a devoted Catholic and attended mass every Sunday. He portrayed the part of Oso Pardo (brown bear) with the comanches of Alcalde. He was a simple man, who was generous with his time and talents and had outstanding work ethics. Fred will be dearly missed. Fred is survived by his sons, Freddy Dupre and spouse Michelle of Taos, Jeffrey Dupre and spouse Valerie of El Rito; and 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, sister, Fela Sanchez of Alcalde, brother, Willie Dupre, and a long-time friend Diane Martinez, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Alcalde, with a burial to follow at the Alcalde Catholic Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Richie Guillen Jr., Gerald Montoya, Joey Sanchez, J.B. Montoya, and Matthew Martinez. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Felix Bustos, Antonio Martinez (Galanto), and Johnny Pacheco. The family of Fred Dupre has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
