Preceded in death by his parents, Frank J. Serrano, Jr. and Adonelia Sanchez Serrano, by father-in-law Willie Salazar and Mother-in-law Lucy War Salazar, sisters Faye Davis and Emma Baird, brothers-in-law Joe Romero, Len Baird, Joseph E. Martinez, sisters-in-law Irene Salazar, nephew Andrew Casados and niece Shelly Millsap.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Alice Salazar Serrano, children Steven, Yvonne, Daniel and Lawrence, grandchildren Paige, Michael, Alyna and great grandson Benjiman, sisters Marie Millsap (Eddie) and Marcella Romero, brothers-in-law David, Ronnie (MaryLou), sister-in-law Connie Martinez, many nieces and nephews, very close family, friends, and assistants, our angel Grace Hernandez and Gloria Ramirez.
Frank was a graduate of Espanola High School, graduate from College of Santa Fe, attained his master's degree from Eastern Oregon College/Portland State University; earned a degree from Highlands University in Hospital Administration. His college and Masters degrees were in Education. Education was his main career and focus in life, as a teacher and President and Founder of Northern NM Community College. Following which, he served as administrator of Hacienda de Salud Nursing Home in Espanola. Subsequently, he worked as Director of Human Resources for the Espanola School System.
Frank and his beloved wife Alice were quite a team of entrepreneurs, and built and owned the Sangre de Cristo Mobile Home Park in 1977, and F & A Zip car wash and self-storage units in 1988. Frank was a jack-of-all-trades; builder, plumber, electrician and much, much more. At the heart of Frank, was his family. He and Alice enjoyed traveling, boating, hunting, fishing and camping. Their favorite enjoyment was taking family camping trips to Vallecitos Lake in Colorado.
Serving as Pallbearers are Mario Sanchez, Ralph L. Casados, Marty Saiz, Brent Carlson, Ralph Sanchez and Andrea Montoya.
Honorary Pallbearers are Daniel, Michael, Benjiman Serrano, Alyna and Shaun Gonzales, Dean Salazar.
Services as follows: Family viewing at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023, followed by public viewing at 6:30 p.m. and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at DeVargas Funeral Home in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel. On December 5, 2023, Tuesday, Rosary at 10:00 a.m, followed by mass at 10:30 a.m, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz de la Canada. Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in Espanola at approximately 12:00 PM. Meal will be served at the Sacred Heart of Jesus parish hall following the interment at approximately 1:30 p.m.
