Frank - Age 93 - Española Padilla

Frank Padilla, 93, a resident of Española, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro Padilla and Isabella War-Padilla; his in-laws, Juan Salazar and Raquel Martinez-Salazar, 3 infant grandchildren; brothers, Manuel and spouse Juanita, Jose and spouse Lusita, Avaristo, Luis and spouse Senova, Jose Orlando Avaristo, Ramon Anselmo, Juan Isidoro and Gary; sister, Adela Montoya; brothers-in-law, Riley Edmonds; sons-in-law, Samuel Herrera, and Dr. Rudy Gonzales; in-laws, Lila and Jake Maestas, and Aurelia and Avelino Lopez, and Bernie and Anselmo Lopez. Frank was born in Walsenburg, Colorado, on January 29, 1920 to Pedro and Isabel War-Padilla. Frank joined the CCC Co 2836 Ojo Del Espirito Santo in San Ysidro, New Mexico from 1936-1938. Frank worked as a sheet metal worker, Local Union 49, with Zia Company Until his retirement. He worked with his dump truck hauling tin and metal to Albuquerque and El Paso, Texas. He hauled material for highway projects in Raton, 31 mile road, and Heron dam; at other times worked the potato farms in Colorado. He did whatever it took to provide for his family. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Mary Salazar-Padilla; sons, Tony, Danny and Joe; daughters, Amelia, Charlotte and Evelyn; sons-in-law, Pres Romero and Alfred Herrera; daughters-in-law, Mary Padilla, Eileen Padilla, and Connie Padilla; 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-great grandchildren; brother, Pete and wife Sally Padilla; sisters, Edna and spouse Bill Schutz, Ernestine Edmonds, Helen and spouse Sonny Salazar, Lita and spouse Nino Martinez; brothers-in-law, Salomon Montoya, and Willie and Mary Salazar; sisters-in-law, Modesta Padilla, Virginia and Delfin Garcia, and numerous other relatives. A rosary will be recited on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. The family of Frank Padilla has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
