Francisco Torres, 84, a resident of Ohkay Owingeh passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2012. He served in the United States Army the Korean War, worked at Duke City Lumber as well as Santa Fe Indian School. As a young man, he helped his father farming the land. He was a talented musician, playing his guitar. Francisco was a kind hearted loving person and he was very generous. He enjoyed reading and will be remembered as a gentle loving Giant who provided well for all his family. Francisco was preceded in death by his parents, Carmelito and Manuelita Torres; brothers: Patrick, Matthew, Isadore, Camilio, Joe and Raymond; sister, Mary Cachora; sons: John Torres and Kenneth Archuleta; granddaughter, Juanda Archuleta. Francisco is survived by his wife, Beatrice Torres; son, James Archuleta; daughter, Deborah Torres; sister, Mary Ann Padilla all of Ohkay Owingeh; grandchildren: Chris Archuleta, Kevin Naranjo, Joshua, Beatrice, Vitalia and Brandon Archuleta; great-grandchildren: Natasha, Dillan and Eli Naranjo, Christopher and Sean Archuleta; sisters-in-law: Isabel Vigil and husband Herman and their daughters, Valerie and Cathy Vigil, Mary, Felipita and Manuelita Torres; Mary Blancaflor and husband Cornell; brother-in-law, Henry Archuleta. Public visitation will be held on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with burial to follow at Ohkay Owingeh Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Chris Archuleta, John Garcia, Lawrence Atencio, Jr., Elvis Torres, Kevin Naranjo, Walter, Leonard and Elmer Torres.
