Frances Eloise - age 83 - La Mesilla Velarde

Eloise Velarde, age 83, a resident of La Mesilla passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Velarde; parents, Ruth and Gil Tims; brother, Floyd Tims, sister, Betty Dickerson. Eloise was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to camp in Santa Clara Canyon with her family, travel to Laughlin with her husband, listen to Elvis Presley, and cheer faithfully for the Dallas Cowboys. She was active in the church serving as a Sunday school teacher and secretary, was a 4-H leader for many years, and worked part-time as a bookkeeper at Pueblo Drugs Store. She provided daycare for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took loving care of her parents. She was a great cook and made the best home-made bread and red Chile in the world. She was loved dearly by her family and will be truly missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know her. Eloise is survived by her daughters; Valerie Menke and husband Robert, Veronica Fresquez and husband Mel, Vanessa Velarde and companion Anthony Lovato, Venetia Salazar and husband Alex; grandchildren, Stephanie Sanchez and husband John, Alexis Salazar, Brad Alarid and wife Veronica, Jeff Alarid and wife Raven, Peter Alarid and wife Angela, Jack and Zoey, great-grandchildren, Layla, CJ, Audrey, Bianca, Richard, Shawn, Peter Frank, William, and Tyler, sister, Dorothy Hunter, sister-in-law, Birdie Tims-Hughes, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the Valley View United Methodist Church in Española. Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 9:45 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family of Eloise Velarde has entrusted their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
