Frances Montano

FRANCES E. MONTANO , 84, a lifelong resident of Pojoaque, ascended on her journey home March 12, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones.

Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fabian E. Montano; parents, Trinidad and Reyes Romero; mother-in-law, Basilisa Sanchez; brother, Juan G. Romero; son, Anthony F. Montano; grandsons, Thomas L. Pino, Ronnie Martinez, and David Sanchez, and granddaughter, Kisha Pino.

She is survived by her brother, Alphonso (Vivian) Romero; daughters, Loretta Sanchez, Theresa (Davis) Thomas, and Sylvia (Carlos) Martinez; Goddaughter, Sylvia (Wesley) Trujillo; grandchildren, Phillip Viarrial, Gerald Varela, Josie Viarrial, Reyes (Joseph Herrera) Viarrial, Darlene (Robert) Martinez, Leonard (Andrea) Pino, Jason and Jeremy (Aileen) Martinez; great-grandchildren, Leanna (Mike) Garcia, Felicia, Audrey, Elise Viarrial, Dominic Orozco, Jaed (John Moya), Raylynn (Chris Gipson), Annaleya, Zephr, Dyani Pino, Sydney Lujan, Keith, Zeena, Luke Duran, Adrian, Jeremiah, Eva, and Jasper Martinez; great-great grandchildren, Azariah Viarrial, Mia-Love Moya, Milani-Promise Gipson; many nephews and nieces and loving relatives and friends.

She was devoted to her family, her church and community.  She was a member of the Holy Family Alter Society and spent many hours volunteering her time at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Frances was a beautiful soul that enjoyed working in her garden. She looked forward to the warm weather when she would spend much time enjoying the sun on her face and the smell of the flowers blooming. Through her over 30 years working for the Pojoaque Valley Schools she met many people from the Valley, their children, and their children’s children.

Services are pending at this time. Serving the family as pallbearers will be, Carlos Martinez, Davis Thomas, Phillip Viarrial, Leonard Pino, Keith Duran, Jason Martinez, Jeremy Martinez, and Mike Garcia. Honorary pallbearers, Adrian Martinez, Jeremiah Martinez, Zypher Pino, Jasper Martinez, Azariah Viarrial, Gerald Varela, Joseph Herrera. The family of Frances E. Montano has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
