Floyd Serna, beloved father, grandfather, father in law, brother and uncle, went to be with our Lord on June 16, 2021. Floyd was born on September 27, 1957 and was raised in Arroyo Seco. He was one of seven siblings in a loving family. Floyd grew up helping his parents and family run the family business-Serna’s Texaco in Arroyo Seco. Floyd was employed by the NM State Highway Department, and retired after 27 years of service. He also went on to work several other jobs, even after retirement. Floyd was a skilled carpenter and plumber, and took great pride in his work.
He was known for his sense of humor, and loved to tell stories and jokes, and enjoyed making people laugh. The one thing he cared for the most, was spending time with his precious family. He adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. He knew what really mattered in life. It was love, laughter and his family.
Floyd is preceded in death, by his parents, Ruben and Lorraine Serna, his brother Ruben Serna Jr., his mother and father in law, Rafelita and Pete Martinez, and his brothers in law, Tommy Martinez, and Alex Martinez.
He is survived by his daughters, Erica Serna (Danny) and Sarah Serna (Andy), and by the mother of his children, Sandra Martinez. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren, Isaiah and Jayden Esquibel, Gianna Perez, Liam Chacon, and Hailey Chacon. Floyd is also survived by his siblings, Robert Serna (Debbie), Donald Serna, Leroy Serna (Claire), Florence Salazar (Ronnie), and Vivian Martinez, and by his sisters in law, Jennifer Archuleta (Rick), and Grace Herrera (Dennis), and by his nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish in Chimayo, burial to follow at Nuestra Senora de Dolores Cemetery.
