FLORAIDA P. VIGIL, 87, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2015. She was born in Bingham Canyon, Utah, to Abegais Vasquez and Ruben Pacheco on Christmas day, 1927. She lived in Chimayo for most of her life. She was strong in her faith and dedicated to her God and her church. She loved to read the bible and listen to Christian music. She loved her family above all else and enjoyed being surrounded by them. She was an excellent cook and an immaculate housekeeper. She always made everyone feel welcome in her home, and was a wonderful role model for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Copertino Vigil; step-father, Procopio Dominguez; daughter, Priscilla Martinez; step-son, Nelson Vigil; grandsons, John Martinez, Jacob Sanchez, and Antonio Vigil; sister-in-law, Selma Pacheco and nephew, Harold Pacheco. Mrs. Vigil is survived by her children, Lee Roy Martinez (Marie), Charlie Martinez (Gloria), Isabell Archuleta (Donald), and Lucille Baca (Joe); step-children, Vivian Koteen (Ralph), Wally Vigil (Antoinette), Sheila Salazar (Delfino), Gerald Vigil (Batrice), Mark Vigil (Angela), Lupita Sanchez (Leonard), Eufemia Cordova, and Corpy Vigil (Mary Lou); brother, Ruben Pacheco; 28 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many relatives, friends and neighbors who all loved her dearly. She will be greatly missed. A wake will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral service will take place on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at El Buen Pastor Church in Ranchitos. Burial to follow at the El Buen Pastor Assembly of God Cemetery in Chimayo with her grandsons serving as pallbearers, Monick Martinez, Lawrence McCubbins, Jessy Martinez, Lawrence Martinez, Ernie Vigil and Sam Garcia. Honorary pallbearers are her god-children. The family of Floraida Vigil has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
