FLORAIDA ROMERO, 95, a resident of Cordova, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; Donaciano and Eulalia Romero; 2 brothers; 1 sister; 2 half-sisters; 2 sons, Uvaldo and Donaciano Romero; 1 granddaughter; 1 grandson and 1 great-grandson. Floraida was a very loving wife “muy buena esposa”, mother and grandmother. She took good care of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a great cook. She loved flowers and would help her husband with the garden. She was a selfless, giving and compassionate person. Mrs. Romero is survived by her husband of 72 years, Alfredo Romero of Cordova; children, Ramon Romero of Cordova, Lucy Sherwood and husband Jesse of Albuquerque, Helen Duran of Albuquerque, Dora Romeo and companion Michael Duran of Española, Patty Martinez and husband Joe of Chimayo and Carol Salazar and husband Peter of Española; Alfredo and Floraida helped raise their granddaughter, Joleen Martinez with lots of love; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Public visitation will begin on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. also in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial to follow at the Presbyterian Cemetery in Cordova with the following serving as pallbearers, Roger Romero, Oliver Sherwood, Alibaba Duran, Kevin and Derick Salazar, Lloyd, Aaron and Joleen Martinez, and Ricky Romero. The family of Floraida Romero has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
