FLAVIO SANDOVAL, 89, a resident of Truchas, was born April 26, 1924 and passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2013. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 55 years, Adelita Sandoval; parents, Miguel and Demecia Sandoval; brothers, Fred (Eldie) and Tobias Sandoval; sisters, Tonita Medina (Besalires Martinez, Leo Medina), Juanita Montoya (Atanacio), and Floy Sandoval. Flavio was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved sitting around the table, drinking coffee with everyone and chatting about the good old days. He retired at the age of 81 from the Espanola Public Schools as a bus driver. Flavio also owned his own landscaping company for more than 40 years and also worked for Los Alamos and Rio Arriba Counties. He was a man with a generous heart. Mr. Sandoval is survived by his children, Videlio Sandoval (Linda), Mike Sandoval (Jorene), David Sandoval (Christine), Viola Cortes (Pete), Walter Sandoval (Donna), Erma Martinez (Ted), Rick Sandoval (Carolyn); two grandchildren whom he and his wife raised, James Lopez (Carol), and Andrew Lopez (Teresa), 18 grandchildren; Glen, Chris, Videlio, Michael, Jr., Nicole, Valerie, Kerri, Brittany, Michelle, David, Jr., James, Andrew, Elisha, Walter, Jr., Matthew, Shannon, Bryen and Stephen; 28 great-grandchildren and other loving relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a remembrance to follow at 7:00 p.m. Burial to be held on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Los Llanitos Cemetery in Truchas with the following serving as pallbearers, Walter Sandoval, Jr., Matthew Sandoval, Stephen Sandoval, Andrew Lopez, James Lopez, Chris Sandoval, Joseph (Videlio) Sandoval, and Dave Sandoval, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family of Flavio Sandoval has entrusted their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
