Filiberta Romero Major

Filiberta Romero Major, 79,  of Lyden, New Mexico, passed away on October 11, 2024

Filiberta retired from the State of New Mexico after 32 years of service. She loved gardening and especially caring for her roses. 

She also loved quilting, baking and most importantly caring for her only grandson Marcos Romero who she admired very much. Filiberta was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. 

Filiberta was preceded in death by father Filiberto Romero, mother Rafaelita Romero, brother Jose M. Romero, sister-in-law Corine Romero as well as several other family members. 

She is survived by her son, Ralph Romero of Lyden, grandson Marcos Romero of Alcalde, niece, Norine Romero of Albuquerque, niece, Christy Romero of Albuquerque, grand nephew, Santiago Romero of Albuquerque, and grand niece Ebony Romero of Albuquerque. 

Carrying Filiberta to her final resting place are her Pallbearers Marcos Romero, Norine Romero, Christie Romero, Santiago Romero, and Rebecca Quintana. 

A Public Visitation will begin at 5:30 pm in the Sangre de Christo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm on Monday, October 21, 2024. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde, NM, with burial to follow at the Velarde Catholic Cemetery.
