Fernando Bimonte, 58, a resident of Chimayo, artist, brother, mentor, friend, was called home to our Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 10, 2013 on his final journey to where his artist’s eye and color palate has never seen such beauty. He traveled the world from Uruguay to Italy, Spain, New York, and finally to the valley of Chimayo, where he called home. He devoted his heart to the community of El Potrero, where he painted the altar screens of El Santo Nino Chapel creating a happy and sacred chapel for children. He touched the hearts of many. His talent and affection that he shared during his life will endure through those who knew and loved him. We look forward to the day we can join him. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial will be held at a later time. The family of Fernando Bimonte has entrusted their loved one to the Charles Medina family and to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
