Fernando Garcia

\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n FERNANDO “FERNA” GARCIA, 53, a resident of El Rito and formerly of Hernandez passed away on Monday, February 8, 2010 following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, Tony Garcia; nephew, Patrick Martinez Jr.; father-in-law, Delfin Lopez Sr. Fernando worked at LANL as a mechanical technician for many years, at the Los Alamos Schools and with the forest service. He was very well known and a very loved man who loved being with his family. He loved the great outdoors and loved going to the mountains. He had a special place that he would go to at the ranch in Canjilon. He was a wonderful and loving man and will be greatly missed. He fought a long four year battle with cancer to which he suffered a lot of pain. Mr. Garcia is survived by his wife, Brenda Garcia of El Rito; children, Tiffany Garcia of El Rito, Vanessa Garcia and companion Ray Martinez of Española and Cory Lewis and companion LeeAnn Maes of McCurdy; grandson, Zachary Lewis; granddaughter, Ashlynn Lewis; mother, Antonia Garcia of Hernandez; sisters, Rosita Martinez and husband Fidel of Hernandez, Jane Sandoval and husband George of Hernandez, Irene Romero and husband Lee of Truchas, Anita Espinoza and husband Gerald of El Llano, Vicky Martinez and companion Jesus and her daughter Daisy of Chili; brothers, Leroy Garcia and wife Linda of Hernandez, Isaac Garcia and wife Lucy of El Llano, Anthony Garcia and companion Ted of Albuquerque and Manuel Garcia and wife Elvia of Española; mother-in-law, Ignacita Lopez of El Rito; sisters-in-law, Margaret Lopez of El Rito, Karen Trujillo and husband Leonard of Tierra Azul, Mabel Ocaña and husband Paul of El Rito, Pauline Archuleta and husband Jose of El Rito and Lucille Griego and husband Murphy of Albuquerque; brothers-in-law, Delfin Lopez Jr. and wife Lola and Cornelio Lopez and wife MaryAnn of El Rito and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at the San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the San Jose Catholic Church. Burial to follow at the San Jose Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, J.D. Vialpando, Delfin Lopez Jr., Juanito Sandoval, Isaac Garcia Jr., Gerald Espinoza Jr. and Charlene Barela. Honorary pallbearers named are his grandchildren, Zachary and Ashlynn Lewis; God-daughters, Destiny Gallegos and Robin Martinez and all his nieces and nephews. The Garcia family has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley. \r\n
