Fares Roybal, a resident of Peñasco, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 after a lengthy illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maximiliano and Demetria; and his brothers, Filemon and Juan. Mr. Roybal served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He worked in Pueblo, Colorado, then moved to Peñasco where he worked in Los Alamos and retired as an Electrician. Fares is Survived by his wife, Nora; daughters, Gloria Acosta (Sergio), Monica Roybal, Sandra Peoples (Monroe), and Karla Garduño (George); 7 grandchildren, Nathan (Raylyne), Chrisann and Jacob Romero (Yvette), Alexandrea and Emerald Peoples, Brandy and Sarah Garduño; 5 great-grandchildren, David, Kaiden, Victor, Ryder, and Jordan; brother, Pete Roybal; 7 sisters, Emma and Antonia Atencio, Dorothy Montoya, Eliza Valdez, Androla Yanaghira, Mabel Zamora, Flora Simental, and Dila Romero. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Peñasco, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. also at the San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Peñasco. Burial will be held Friday, December 8, 2017 at 9:45 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Nathan Romero, Jacob Romero, Pete Roybal, George Garduno, Monroe Peoples and John Faure. Honorary pallbearers will be Chrisann Romero, Roger Jiminez, John Roybal and Roger Montoya. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who have poured their love and support on the family during the time of their dear Fare’s passing. The cards, flowers, food, phone calls, messages and visits were greatly appreciated. They would especially like to thank Dialysis Clinic Inc. in Taos, Karen Marquez, (Home Health Aide), Albuquerque VA Hospital, Compasses Hospice & Palliative Care, Los Hermanos Penitente of Peñasco, Father Simeon Wimmershoff, DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, Alfredo Tommy Romero for the beautiful eulogy and the Army and Legion Riders for the military honors.
