Fabian Velarde

FABIAN VELARDE, 32, was born September 26, 1986, a resident of Rio Chama, passed away on Saturday April 20, 2019 followed by his aunt, Dorene Mondragon. He was preceded in death by his father, Peter E. Velarde; great-grandparents, Peter and Mela Velarde, Eddie and Flora Rodriguez, Pedro and Beroniz Garcia, Juan and Raquel Salazar; grandfather, Jose Medardo Gallegos; uncles, Richard Garcia, Nicholas and Eddie Gallegos; aunt, Donna Gallegos; cousin, Reina Martinez. Everyone will remember Fabian as a Big Teddy Bear with a heart as big as him. He enjoyed being with family and friends. He also liked going to Ohkay Casino, camping, and hunting. He enjoyed getting his large Sonic strawberry cheese cake shakes with extra crumbs. He left his mark everywhere he went; he was always willing to help others in time of need. Everyone will now treasure his memory of his helping hands. His love for family was unconditional and his friends meant the world to him. Fabian will be dearly missed by everyone. Fabian is survived by his parents, Jackie and Diane Gallegos; brothers, Peter, Jacob, and Jashua Velarde; sisters, Faith and Mariah Gallegos, and Unity (Ivan) Cepeda; nephews, Peter, Estevan, Jacob, and Andres Velarde and Baby Marcos Cepeda; paternal grandparents, Peter and Martha Velarde; maternal grandparents, Delfin and Virginia Garcia; grandmother, Tere Gallegos; step-mother, Carmela Velarde; step-grandmother, Priscilla Romero; his auntie Cathy who did the world for him; cousin, Jovanna who he called sister and was his care taker; aunts and uncles, Gary Garcia and Melissa Velarde, Larry and Sandra Maestas, Robert Romero, Cindy Garcia, Karen Gallegos, Cathy Martinez, Dale Garcia, Gilbert and Germana Gallegos, Manuel Gallegos and Marina Garcia, Joann Gallegos, Carlos and Melissa Gallegos, Michael Gallegos and Darlene Atencio, Louis and Sadie Martinez, Ray and Margaret Gallegos and other relatives and friends. A rosary rosary will be recited on Monday, April 29, 2019 at 9:00 a.m., with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial will be held at El Potrero Cemetery.
