EVILA R. GALLEGOS, 76, a resident of Espanola, passed away at home on Saturday, December 15, 2018. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gonzalo Gallegos; daughter, Sylvia Gallegos; son, Manuel Gallegos; step-son, Gonzalo Gallegos Jr.; step-daughter, Susie Acosta; parents, Antonio Ortega and Luz Pena; brother, Tony Ortega. She had a passion for cooking and the majority of her working years she worked in the same Restaurant building which started out as Sixtos, Valdez Plaza Café, Dollies and Dos Amigos where she made many friends and delicious food for the Community. She was a loving, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughters, Dora Aragon and husband Andrew, Susie Gallegos and companion, Dean Moya, Sandra Gallegos and husband Mario Gonzales; step-daughter Sally Jaramillo and husband Benji; grandchildren as she raised like her own Elmer Martinez and Oliver Gallegos; brother, Johnny Ortega and wife Suzanne; sister-in-law like a sister Rose Ortega, half-brothers, Henry Ortega, Andrew Ortega, half-sisters, Linda Mata and husband Daniel, Sofie Sandoval and husband Ted, Isabel Ortega; grandchildren, Monica, Jessica and Andrew Jr. Aragon, Donovan and Phillip Martinez, Javella Gallegos, Stephanie Montoya, Dominic and Nala Gallegos and Manuel Gallegos, Marialena, Enrique and Joy Jaramillo, Jose, Samuel and Vicente Gallegos, Lisa Cheresposy and Husband John, Tommy Acosta and Walter Calderon; 34 great-grandchildren and her beloved cat Moustache plus many other loving relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz with the Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated immediately after at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Santa Cruz with the following serving as pallbearers, Oliver Gallegos, Donovan Martinez, Andrew Aragon Jr. Andrew Aragon Sr., Mario Gonzales, and Walter Calderon. A reception will follow the services at 1:00 p.m. at the Cities of Gold Conference Center. The family of Evila R. Gallegos has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
