Evelyn Rael

Evelyn Marie Rael, 76 years old and longtime resident of Vallecitos, New Mexico departed this Earth on Thursday, October 21, 2021, in the presence of her daughters.  She is preceded in death by Gilbert Rael her devoted husband of 47 years; loving parents Victoriano and Florinda Torrez; birthmother Cecilia Cisneros; sisters Consuelo Valdez and Bertha Esquibel; Tios Tina and Orlando Chacon and Lorenzo and Margie Vigil; compadres Daniel Sr. and Eliza Rael and many other loved ones.  Evelyn was born in Leadville, Colorado and spent her childhood in Petaca, New Mexico.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  Evelyn and Gilbert loved attending dances together at the Sala in Vallecitos.  She worked as a housekeeper in Albuquerque and was cherished by her loyal clients who remained lifelong friends.  Evelyn had fun playing Bingo and slots at the local casinos.  She liked going for drives and enjoyed dining out at her favorite restaurants.  Evelyn adored her grandchildren and was involved in helping care for them.  Evelyn was survived by her treasured daughters Valerie Rael (Mike), Irene Rael (Stephen), Beverly Rael- Gautro (Paul), and Corina Rael; honorary children Christina Chavez (Chris) and Robert Graves; adored grandchildren Renall Teal, Alyssa Gautro, Diondre Teal, Paul Gautro Jr., Christian Teal, Nathaniel Gautro, Carrie Teal, Jacob Gautro, Xavier Gonzalez, William Gonzalez, and Santiago Carter- Johnson Rael; trustworthy brother Sylviano Torrez; honorary siblings Victor Valdez Sr., Eva Valdez, and Leoma Esquibel; godchildren Angela Barela and Victor Valdez Jr. and many special nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m on Friday, November 5th in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home. Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m on Saturday, November 6th at the Catholic Church in Ojo Caliente with burial to follow at Petaca Catholic Cemetery
