Evangeline “Vangie” Martinez, 76, a resident of Los Luceros, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso Romero and Donila Gallegos; daughter, Pamela Maestas; grandson, Max Martinez; nephew, Louis Sattler. Evangeline is survived by her husband of 58 years, Max Martinez of Los Luceros; children, Max Martinez and wife Rebecca of Los Luceros, Tammy Ulibarri and husband Ronald of Los Luceros, Richard Maestas; sister, Lawra Martinez and husband Juan of Los Luceros, Helen Metzger of Fairfax, VA; grandchildren, Ronaldo Ulibarri and wife Amanda of Shadow Mountain, Donna Martinez and husband Jason of Los Luceros, Dr. Erika Maestas of Albuquerque, Justin Ulibarri of Los Luceros, Nicholas Maestas of Albuquerque; great grandchildren, Jordan, Jerek, Jacelyn Duda and Garrett Ulibarri; close niece, April Sattler of Española, and her son Estevan; close sister-in-law, Nora “Chepie” Gallegos of Los Luceros, plus other brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Alcalde. The family of Evangeline “Vangie” Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
