Evan - Age 22 - Chimayo Martinez

Evan Jay “Smiley” Martinez, 22, a resident of Chimayo passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014. Evan was preceded in death by his mother, Missie Martinez; brother, Jaren Martinez; grandfather, Orlando Martinez; great-grandparents, Anthonio and Gregoria Martinez, Blas and Rosina Martinez and Estevan and Amelia Gallegos; aunts and uncles, Elsie Archuleta, Josefina Lopez, Alfonzo Gallegos and George Lopez; close cousins, Benjie Martinez, Thomas Moya, Donna Martinez, Willie Martinez and Evon Trujillo. He is survived by his son Jayven Martinez; father, Johnny Martinez and step-mother, Andrea Martinez; brother, Javon Martinez (Tamara); sister, Angel Trujillo; step-brothers, Austin and Ambros Dominguez; grandmother, Orlinda Martinez; aunts and uncles, Lucresia Martinez, Jesse Martinez (Elena), Thomas Ramirez (Jolyn), Michelle and Joe Padilla, Lovia and Orlando Leyba, Elmer Martinez, Pat Archuleta, Leroy Gallegos, Estella Gallegos, Pauline Gallegos and Ben and Inez Trujillo; grandparents whom raised him, Bert and Lucy Martinez and close cousins, Antonio and Antoinette Ramirez and Josh and JayLynn Padilla, as well as many other loving relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the Victory Faith Church in Española with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Victory Faith Church in Española. Burial to follow at the Portero Cemetery in Chimayo with the following serving as pallbearers, Ambros and Austin Dominguez, Antonio Ramirez, Edward Martinez, Billy Montoya, Josh Padilla and Jared Martinez. The family of Evan Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
