Eva Velasquez – Age 94, a resident of Canones, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Eva was born on April 12, 1917 in Canones to Juan Rafael and Maria de la Luz Lovato, one of eight children, having four brothers and three sisters. Eva was a devout Catholic and along with her husband Genaro, raised their nine children with strong Christian values, as prayer was very important to her and consumed most of her days and nights. Eva is preceded in death by her husband Genaro Velasquez, Sr., her son Genaro Velasquez, Jr., her parents: Juan Rafael and Maria de la Luz Lovato, her brothers: Medardo, Isaac, and Norman Lovato, her sisters: Angelica Aragon, and Patrocinia Serrano. Eva Velasquez is survived by her Daughters: Dora Trujillo and husband Leo of El Guache, Susie Corrales and husband Louie of Chili, and Aurelia Valdez and husband Arturo of Canones. Eva is also survived by her sons: Juan Velasquez and wife Albertina of Canones, Delfinio Velasquez and wife Nadine of Ojo Sarco, Vidal Velasquez and wife Ruth of Chili, Sammy Velasquez and wife Orlinie of Chili, Elmer Velasquez and wife Mary of Canones, as well as her daughter in law, Tina Velasquez of Cuba, a sister, Emilia Martinez of El Guache, a brother, Fred Lovato of La Mesilla, sisters in law : Severiana Salazar of Canones, and Margarita Lovato of Espanola as well as 23 grandchildren, 27 great grand-children, 2 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Public Visitation for Eva Velasquez will begin at 6:00p.m., on Monday, August 29, 2011 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of De Vargas Funeral Home and Crematory with a Rosary to follow at 7:00p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday August 30, 2011 at 10:00AM at the San Miguel Catholic Church in Canones with burial to follow in the Canones Catholic Cemetery. Assisting the family as pallbearers will be: Isaiah Velasquez, Randy Velasquez, Matthew Velasquez, Jason Velasquez, Nestor Trujillo and Gene Corrales. Honorary pallbearers named are Isaac Velasquez, Michael Velasquez, Daniel Velasquez, Arturo Valdez Jr., and Stanley Trujillo.
