Eulalia “Lala” Martinez, 90, a resident of Chama passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Saturday, April 13, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Belarmino Martinez; grandsons: Jason McAdams and Eddie Martinez Jr. She loved quilting, painting, canning and gardening. Her love for cooking for her family was enjoyed by all. She was a giving woman who gave homemade gifts to everyone in the community which was always a wonderful treat. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Eulalia is survived by her daughters: Magdalena Huebert and husband Michael, Susie Medina and husband Sam, Lola Davenport and husband Frank, Dora Kemp, Fela Bartow, Janie Chavez and husband Mark; sons: Gus Martinez and wife Jenny, Eddie Martinez, Tommy Martinez and wife Margaret, Billy Martinez, James Martinez and wife Donna, Michael Martinez and wife Margaret; 40 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 6 great great-grandchildren; sisters: Alice Nuno, Ernie Sanchez and husband Toby, Helen Barela and husband Alonso; brother, Lito Garcia and wife Lily; close nephews: Willie Salazar and Raymond Garcia; close niece, Maggie Garcia; numerous other loving nephews, nieces, relatives & friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chama with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. also at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chama. Burial to follow at the Chama Community Cemetery with the following serving the family as pallbearers: Gilbert Medina, Ryan Davenport, Caleb Chavez, Jose Martinez, Gus Martinez II, Brad Bartow, Daniel and Scott Martinez; honorary pallbearer, Jamison Martinez. The family of Eulalia “Lala” Martinez have entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
