EUGENIO “GENE” TORRES, 80, raised and born in New Mexico and currently resided in San Francisco, passed away in Santa Fe on Monday, October 1, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delfinio and Dora Torres; brother, Filimon; sisters: Alice and Nora Torres. Gene is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice Torres; son, Michael Torres; grandsons: Mikey and Joey Torres; granddaughter, Briana Torres; sisters: Sophie Blea and husband Frank, Theresa Lujan, Rebecca Torres, Gloria Martinez, Sandra Alcon and husband Roger, Ida Torres and Linda Tapia and husband Hank; brothers: Juan and Albert Torres; brothers-in-law: Joe Romero, Ben Romero (Viola), Ernie Garcia (Rosie) and Carlos Garcia (Gloria); sisters-in-law: Nora Quintana (Antonio), Ruby Chavez (Seferino), Stella Rago. Public visitation will be held on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with burial to take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. with the following serving as pallbearers: Mikey and Joey Torres, David Garcia, David Romero, Jesse Chacon And Roger Alcon; honorary pallbearers: Michael Torres, Tony Quintana, Hank Tapia, Ernie Garcia and Carlos Garcia.
