EUGENE “GENE” R. MARTINEZ, 53, a resident of Alcalde, born March 11, 1964 and passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on Monday, March 13, 2017 after a short valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorianne Quintana-Martinez; father, Nestor Martinez; brother, Nestor Martinez Jr., sister, Janelle Martinez and her husband, Joe; niece, Robin Martinez; paternal grandparents, Benancio and Lugarda Martinez, Maternal grandparents, Emedardo and Sofia Lopez; father-in-law, Willie Quintana. Gene was a quiet special man with a great personality, he had a loving heart and a good sense of humor. He loved his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and he loved to ride. He especially loved to be around his family and hang out with his friends. He was also a jack of all trades and everything he did he did with pride. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him… RIP. Gene is survived by his only son, Eugene Martinez Jr.; grandson, Bently Martinez; his mother, Sylvia Martinez; sister, Susan Maestas and husband Joe of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister-in-law, Kathy Martinez; niece, Monica Martinez of Albuquerque, nephew, Joseph Martinez and wife Rosemary of Utah, great nephews, Elijah Trujillo and Sebastian Martinez, great nieces, Janelle Martinez and Lucianna Martinez; step-daughter, Mariah Chavez; mother-in-law, Stella Quintana; a special friend, Veronica (Ronnie) Montoya who stood by him till the end; his beloved little dog, Lilly who loved him very much, and many other relatives family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to DeVargas Funeral Home to help with Funeral Expenses. Memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial will be held at La Villita Cemetery in Alcalde.
