Eugene “Gene” Valdez

Eugene Valdez ‘Gene’, 77, of Velarde, NM passed away peacefully at his home on March 30, 2024.  Awaiting in heaven are his parents, brother, sister, daughter Gina Sanchez and granddaughter Margarita Valdez.  

He leaves behind broken hearts of his loving wife, Georgia Valdez; son Mark Valdez (Wanda); daughter Inez Valdez; grandson Markos (Gabrielle); granddaughter Shyann Valdez; grandson Juan Canuto ‘JC’; granddaughter Bernardita Chavez; great grandchildren Ariya, Arianna, Markos Valdez JR.  Gene was known for his warm and infectious sense of humor.  Gene had a knack for bringing laughter into the lives of others. His jokes and funny stories could light up a room and create lasting memories. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved, and his presence brought joy to family gatherings and social events.

Gene was not only loved by his family and friends, but also respected by all who knew him. His kindness, integrity, and compassion touched the lives of many. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, offering support and encouragement to those in need. His generosity and selflessness were truly remarkable.

Although Gene may no longer be with us, his spirit will live on through the cherished memories he leaves behind. He will forever be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a true inspiration to all.

Services will begin on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, with a Rosary at 10:00 am and mass to follow at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde. Burial will also follow at the Velarde Catholic Cemetery in Velarde.
