Esther E. - Age 95 - Guachupangue Martinez

Esther E. Martinez – Age 95 a resident of Guachupangue passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, Sunday, August 22, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Concepcion “Conce” Martinez; 5 children: Gilbert, Patrick, Theresa, Freddie and Eloy Martinez; parents: Tomas and Teofila Martinez of Alcalde; brother, Eduardo Martinez of California; sister, Maria Sisneros of Santa Fe; grandson, Stephen Martinez of Las Cruces; and great grandsons: Kevin and Adrian Martinez, Jr. and Nicolas Maestas. Esther was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking meals for her family. She also enjoyed sewing, making beautiful quilts, and enjoyed planting beautiful flowers. She was employed by the Española Public Schools as a cook for over 25 years. She is survived by her children: Bertha Maestas and husband Orlando of Española, Manuel Martinez and wife Lilly of Arroyo Seco, Jose Martinez and wife Viola of Santa Fe, Gilbert Martinez of El Paso, TX, Theresa Romero and husband Henry of La Puebla, Lorraine Abeyta of La Puebla and Senator Richard Martinez and wife Theresa of Guachupangue; sister, Ramona Sanchez of San Juan, numerous nieces & nephews and other relatives & friends. Esther is also survived by 25 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Esther loved all her family deeply as well as her wonderful primary caregivers, Debbie Peña, Dorothy Sanchez and Wanda Wright. Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a wake to be held at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Española. Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Matthew Abeyta, Anthony Romero, Freddie Martinez, David Maestas, Adrian Martinez and Israel Martinez. Honorary pallbearers: remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren The family of Esther E.
