Esther D. Age - 73 - Gallina Chavez

Esther D. Chavez, 73, a resident of Gallina, NM passed away from a lengthy illness on Monday, September 17, 2012. Esther was a loving wife, mother & grandmother. She worked many years at Bruno’s in Cuba, NM as a cook. She could cook up anything you felt like eating. She was a very, very good cook. Esther was a quiet humble individual. What we will remember is Esther’s beautiful smile. Rest in peace. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Merejildo and Carlota Salazar; grandson, Antonio DeVargas. Esther is survived by her daughters: Diana Chavez of Gallina, Josie Corrales and husband Charlie of Belen, Stella Botelho and husband Rick of Santa Fe; son, Juan Chavez of Gallina, Leon Chavez of Santa Fe, Pat Chavez of Cuba; grandson raised like a son, Patrick Chavez and wife Lisa of Albuquerque; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters: Faye of Albuquerque, Rosie and husband Randy of Texas, Irene and husband David of Bernalillo, Joann of Albuquerque, Cleo and husband David of Rio Rancho; brothers: Ernest Salazar and wife Marcella of Santa Fe, Toby Salazar and wife Rosella of Utah, Eddie, Jimmy, Junior Salazar and wife Kathy, Leo Salazar and wife Rosalie of Utah; numerous other loving relatives and friends. Public visitation will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a devotional service to follow at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 2:15 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
