Esther Torres

ESTHER TORRES, 89, a resident of Española, passed away Monday, October 31, 2016. Esther was born on August 17, 1927 in Hillrose, Colorado to Jose and Severa Servantes. Throughout her life, Esther touched many lives with her gentle spirit and selfless love. She helped raise her grandchildren and spent much of her time serving her family and close friends. Esther enjoyed reading, cooking, and the company of those who were blessed to know her. We will deeply miss our mom, grandma, sister, and friend. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Severa Servantes; her husband, Espiridion Torres, her son, Aaron Torres; and her siblings, Herman Bueno, Richard Cervantes, and Rachael Rocha. Esther is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and Rick Parks of Erie, CO; her daughter-in-law, Yolanda Cardenas of Santa Fe; her grandchildren, Joseph Torres (Lianne) of Espanola, Vincent Torres (Tiffany) of Santa Fe, and Brittney Cardenas of Albuquerque; her step-grandchildren, Christy Parks of Lafayette, CO, and Kevin Parks of NC; her great-grandchildren, Keysha, Hailey, Trez, Brooklyn, and Gavin; her siblings, Jenny Gonzales (Guadalupe) of Boulder, CO, Samuel Servantes (Joyce) of Greely, CO, Julie Avalos (Manuel) of Lafayette, CO, Daniel Cervantes (Barbara) of Boulder, CO, Joann Gooday of Denver, CO, and Robert Servantes of Denver, CO; her sisters-in-law, Priscilla Sisneros of Las Animas, CO, Connie Servantes of Lafayette, CO, and Eva Bueno of Sturgis, South Dakota; several nieces and nephews, including her special nephew, Bill Rocha (Anita) of Bernalillo; and many other loving family members and friends, including her special friend and caregiver, Angie Peña, and her beloved friend, Gale Dowdy. Public visitation will begin on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall in Arroyo Seco.
