ESTELLA VIGIL, 84, a resident of Alcalde, was born July 6, 1930 in Rio Lucio, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Estella always put her children first and worked tirelessly to provide and give them a good home. She worked hard as a young adult helping her father build houses. In her later years, Estella looked after some of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed making jewelry, ceramics, sewing, and playing bingo. Estella, an inspiration to her family and friends and always caring for others first, had a contagious warm heart, full of love. Today as we mourn Estella's passing, we are comforted by God's grace and mercy knowing Estella is no longer suffering and is in the presence of our Father in Heaven. Estella was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Cruz and Rosarito Pacheco; husband, Ubaldo Vigil; sons, Billy and Michael Vigil; brothers, John and Henry Pacheco; and sisters, Ursulita Duran, Sofia Vigil, Eloisa Sanchez, and Gertude Roybal. Ms. Vigil is survived by her sons, Oliver Vigil (Laura), Joe Lawrence (Florence) and daughters, JoAnn Salazar (Eloy, Jr.), Sandra Salazar (Frank). Estella is also survived by her sisters, Josie Tafoya, and Ruby Ortega (Tony); brother, Gilbert Pacheco; grandchildren, Chris, Clarissa (Thomas), Melissa (Bob), Joseph (Veronica), Elisha (Adam), Crystal (Jaime), Matthew (Clorinda), and Marissa, 7 great-grandchildren, and 2 step-grandchildren, Franchesca and Kristen Salazar along with their children. The family would like to say a special thank you to her caregiver Angie Teña, Presbyterian Medical staff, Los Alamos Medical Center staff, Consumer Direct staff, Advanced Healthcare staff, and Sombrillo Nursing Center staff. Public visitation will begin on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, with a burial to follow at Las Trampas Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are, Matthew Cordova, Frank Salazar, Chris Vigil, Joseph Vigil, Adam DeHerrera and Thomas Sisneros. Serving as honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family of Estella Vigil has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.\r\n
