Estella Torrez

ESTELLA M. TORREZ, 77, a resident of Petaca, NM passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Stella was born on July 19, 1938. Stella was preceded in death by her husband, Max Torrez Jr.; parents, Serafin and Elizaida Barela; daughter, Clorinda Torrez, brother, Eliufredo Barela, sisters, Felicita Pena and Amelia Gurule; special niece, Shirley Archuleta and Ninfa Gallegos. Stella retired from the United Postal Service after 30 years of employment. Her biggest joy was found in singing and spending quality time with her family. She could easily described as loving, giving, energetic and funny. Stella is survived by her children, Louella Gutierrez and husband Flaviano of Ojo Caliente, Michael Torrez and wife Beverly of Espanola, Ida Herrera and husband Johnny of El Rito, Leonard Torrez and wife Roberta of Alcalde, Louie Torrez of La Petaca; adopted son, Elbert Gutierrez and companion April Montoya; grandchildren, Karyn Herrera, Yvette Gutierrez and companion Danny, Leonard Torrez Jr. and wife Renee, Kimberly Herrera, Clorinda Cordova and husband Matthew, Louis Torrez and wife Crystal, Karlah Herrera and companion John Guillen, Michael Torrez Jr. and companion Markita, LeeAnna Valdez and husband Lucas, Daniel Torrez and companion Samantha, Lynette Torrez and Jennifer Torrez, great-grandchildren, Kylie Torrez, Jaslene Torrez, Emmalynn Torrez, Mylah Torrez, Luke Manzanares, Dani Manzanares, Joshua Torrez, Ariana Torrez, and Hailey Cordova; siblings, Harvey Barela and wife Edulia of Gypsum CO,Willie Barela and wife Emilianna of Mintrun, CO, Serafin Barela of Alcalde, Feloniz Roybal and husband Salome; special nieces, Mae Gonzales and husband Peter of Rio Rancho, God Child, Judy Najera of Santa Fe and Edna Baca of Minturn, CO and numerous other loving relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Pieda de Divina Pastora Church in Petaca, with a burial to follow at La Petaca Community Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers Johnny Herrera, Flaviano Gutierrez, Elbert Gutierrez, Leonard Torrez Jr., Louis Torrez, Michael Torrez Jr., Daniel Torrez and Adolfo Torrez Sr., honorary pallbearers, Karyn Herrera, Yvette Gutierrez, Kimberly Herrera, Clorinda Cordova, Karlah Herrera, LeeAnna Valdez, Lynette Torrez, Jennifer Torrez, Renee Torrez, Crystal Herrera and April Montoya.
