Estella - Age 90 - Velarde - Quintana

ESTELLA S. QUINTANA, 90, a resident of Velarde, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Modesto Quintana, Sr.; parents, Manuel and Victoriana Salazar; daughter, Rebecca Quintana; brothers, Jose Estevan Rendon, Erineo, Ruben, Reginaldo, Ernesto and Eloy Salazar; sister, Olivama Sanchez. Estella was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She told everyone she loved them and took great care of her family. She was the most loving person there could be; even to strangers she was so friendly. In her later years she became more involved outside her home, and enjoyed going to the Senior Citizen Center with her daughter, Gloria. She enjoyed working on her garden and cooking for her family and had a great sense of humor. She was well known and respected in the community of Velarde. Her faith in God was strong. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. Mrs. Quintana is survived by her children, Eppie Quintana; Gloria Quintana, Maria Elena Holguin and Modesto A. Quintana, Jr. and companion Ernestine all of Velarde; grandchildren, Veronica Quintana of Lyden, Jessica Holguin and companion Steven Griego of Velarde and Matthew Holguin of Velarde; great-grandchildren, Derek and Caitlin Hice both of Lyden; sister, Mary Martinez; brother, Juan B. Salazar and wife Christina all of Salt Lake City, UT; sisters-in-law, Mela Monson and husband Jose, Ferminia and Aurelia Salazar all of Velarde and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A second rosary will be recited on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde. Burial will follow at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery in Velarde. The family of Estella S.
