Estanislado "Tiny" - Age 87 - Chima Vigil

Estanislado “Tiny” Vigil – Age 87 a resident of Chimayo passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, March 4, 2011 following a sudden illness. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Soraida Vigil; son, Cecilio Manuel; grandson, Chris Vigil; great-grandson, Nino Edward; parents: Fabian and Sabina Vigil; and special brother, Corpentino Vigil. Mr. Vigil was a World War II Naval Veteran. Mr. Vigil served as Rio Arriba county assessor, Rio Arriba county treasurer, Española Public school board member. He was an active member of the Acequia de Espinosa Commision. He was a lifelong member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo and enjoyed his time served with the Chimayo Chili Project. He is survived by his daughter, Elvira Rios; children: Lisa and husband Belarmino Martinez, Diana Rios, Donald Rios and Angelica; son, Michael and Hilda Vigil; granddaughter, April Vigil; daughter, Frances Vigil; granddaughter, Christina and husband Manuel Martinez; daughter, Sandra Vigil; daughter, Darlene Vigil; grandson, Daniel and wife Carolina Vigil; brother, Tiburcio and wife Emilla Vigil; sister-in-law, Floraida Vigil; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 7:45 p.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial to follow at the Nuestra Señora de Dolores Catholic Cemetery in Chimayo with the following serving as pallbearers, Donald Rios, Daniel Vigil, Manuel Martinez, Belarmino Martinez, Leonard Gonzales and Ronnie Lopez. Honorary pallbearers named are, Suzanne Lopez and Cristian Martinez, Guillermo Espinoza, Jose Alfonso Martinez, Felimon Martinez, Felix Vigil, Eddie Maestas, Tommy and Debbie Rodella, Angelo Cordova and all his great-grandchildren. The family of Estanislado “Tiny” Vigil has entrusted the care of their beloved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
