Ernesto Archuleta

Ernesto C. Archuleta, 85, a resident of Chimayo passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 with his family by his side. Ernesto was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Pedro and Rebecca Archuleta; in-laws, Florian and Patrociana Montoya; son, Jose Rudy Archuleta; granddaughter, Valerie Christine Archuleta; siblings, Jerry and Olivama Archuleta and close cousin, Ricardo Archuleta. Ernesto was a loving, caring, peace keeping, and humble man who loved the outdoors, working on his garden, irrigating his land and caring for his animals. He loved his grandchildren deeply and enjoyed spending time with his family. Ernesto enjoyed his occasional beer, and especially loved his visits with his brother Leo and sneaking “a tragito”. Most of all Ernesto loved his wife Genoveva as she was his sweetheart and his #1 priority. Ernesto is survived by his wife, Genoveva Archuleta; children, Judy Rose Archuleta (Roderick Garcia) and Jody Archuleta (Annette); daughter-in-law, Yolanda Archuleta; grandchildren, Stephanie Archuleta (Sean), Erica Archuleta, Matthew McKinney (Yolunda), Ashley Archuleta (Daryl), Valerie Archuleta (Chris), Henry Baca (Vedra) and Monika Sandoval (Mariano); great-grandchildren, Keanna Cohen, Brendan French, Jayden Jones, Sean and Noah McKinney, Lenox Lorenz, Andrew, Eric and Audrey Sandoval, Miranda, Cassandra and Jose Baca; great-great grandchildren, Alysa, Leah, Deja, Desiree and Mila; siblings, Porfirio Archuleta (Orlinda), Lugarda Montoya, Videlio (Phil) Archuleta (Helen), Leo Archuleta (Gloria), Trinidad Vigil, and Elvira Martinez; brother-in-law, Gilbert Montoya (Marie); sisters-in-law, Lugarda and Carolina Montoya, and many  God-children and other relatives and friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Addus and Compassus nurses, Dulcenea Marquez, Alberta Peña, Maria Rivera, Maria Gutierrez and Rosie Salazar for their wonderful care of Ernesto. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial to take place at the Nuestra Señora de Dolores Cemetery in Chimayo with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Jody Archuleta, Matthew McKinney, Ashley Archuleta, Valerie Archuleta, David Archuleta, Chris Borunda, Sammy Martinez, Telesfor Montoya, and Gilbert Montoya Jr. Serving as honorary pallbearers are, Roderick Garcia, Elias  and Daryl Martinez, Sean French, Finnie Gonzales, Henry Baca, Patsy Vigil, Froylano and Sylvia Montoya, Sandra Baca, Toby and Elsie Trujillo, Cathy Ortiz, Edumenio Martinez, Gilbert Coriz, and Jasper Tucker. The family of Ernesto C. Archuleta has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
