Ernestine C. Age - 92 - Cañon Plaza Gurule

Ernestine C. Gurule, 92, a resident of Cañon Plaza passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012. She was a very faithful lady, loving mother, grandmother & great-grandmother. She loved to tend to her garden, sewing quilts and also loved to cook and take care of her animals. Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Desiderio Chacon and Sara Chacon; husband, Jose I. Gurule; brothers: Roman, Juan, Alfonso, Mike and Henry Chacon; sisters: Maria Trujillo and Julia Ortega; grandson: Gino Gurule; son-in-law, Robert E. Baca. Ernestine is survived by her children: Celina Lawson of Decatur, Alabama, Sabinano Gurule and wife Lydia of Española, NM, Elvie Roberts and husband Bill of Arab, Alabama, Bertina Baca of Albuquerque, NM, Beto Gurule and wife Maria Elena of Española, NM, Rose Vaughn and husband Daniel of Granada Hills, California, Joe Gurule Jr. and wife Sylvia of Cañon Plaza, NM; brother, Fernandez Chacon and wife Odelsa of Cañon Plaza, NM; sister, Corrine Martinez of Española, NM; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; numerous other loving relatives & friends. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a Devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. with the following serving as pallbearers: Thomas Todd Lawson, Toby Gurule, Joe Roberts, Antoinette Gallegos, Lynette Thomas, Kevin Vaughn, Joe Gurule III; honorary pallbearers: Randy Lawson, Lisa Kedge, Gina Gurule, Mike Roberts, Steve Roberts, Renee Aragon, Marlana Gurule, Brian Vaughn, Krista Gurule; nephew, Alfonso Chacon; nieces: Loyda Gurule, Loretta Szudy, Cornelia Campos and Stephanie Martinez.
