Erlinda Ida Garcia, Age 79.

Erlinda Ida Garcia, 79 years old, a resident of Española and formerly of Cañones was called home to the Lord on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, she was born in Cañones, NM on April 26, 1945, in the family home on the Buena Vista Ranch. Erlinda was a loving sister, aunt, and friend. Erlinda enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Erlinda had a great work ethic beginning at a very young age. Erlinda was a primary care giver for her parents Isabel and Genoveva Garcia when they each became ill. She enjoyed praying her Rosary daily and religiously attended Mass every Sunday. Erlinda helped her sister Theresa raise her three children Alejandro, Jeremiah and Vanessa Chacon as her own. Erlinda was employed with the Española Presbyterian Hospital, Rio Arriba County where she retired in 2010, following retirement Erlinda worked part time as a care giver for Ideal Home Health until March 2023. 

Erlinda was preceded in death by Parents Isabel and Genoveva Garcia, Paternal Grandparents Fiñiano and Cristerna Garcia, Maternal Grandparents Vidal and Delfina Velasquez, Siblings Delfinita Garcia who passed away as an infant, Eligio Garcia, Cristerna Salazar (Benny), Alfredo Garcia (Norma), Elipio Garcia (Antonia), Mizel Garcia, Theresa Chacon, nephew like a son Alejandro Chacon and sister-in-law Teodorita Garcia.

Erlinda is survived by Jeremiah Chacon like a son (Davina), Vanessa Chacon (Sean), God daughter Reina Chacon, Siblings Belen Alanis (Alfredo), Filimon Garcia (Nora), Fiñiano Garcia (Theresa), sister-in-law Nancy Garcia, brother-in-law Johnny Chacon and very many nieces and nephews who she loved and loved her dearly.

A Rosary will be recited on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 9:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Abiquiu, NM, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am, burial to follow at the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery in Cañones, NM. 

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Jeremiah Chacon and Peter J. Garcia Sr. Honorary pallbearers are all nieces and nephews.
