Eric James Romero, 21, a resident of Alcalde, NM, went to meet his savior and creator on July 10, 2013, after sustaining injuries from a car accident with his fiancée, Marissa Martinez. Eric’s greatest accomplishments were his three children. Eric’s love for hunting and fishing was when he was with his dad and his grandpo, Archie. He also loved to go scouting, shooting, playing basketball, watching and following UFC fights. His favorite teams were the Miami Heat, Dolphins and fighter, Anderson Silva. Eric was preceded in death by his great-grandfathers, Reynel Maestas and Florendo Romero; cousin, Venessa Valerio; great-great grandmother, Epimenia Salazar. Eric is survived by his parents, Eddie and Stephanie Romero; sister, Meagan Romero; two sons, Estevan and Amadius Romero; their mother, Cassandra Ruybal and 2 week old daughter, Aubriee Anna Romero; nino, Sam Gallegos and best friend, Brandon Duran; grandparents, Archie and Vickie Maestas of Rio Chama, Eddie and Elizabeth Romeo of Alcalde; aunts and uncles, Phyllis and Matias Montaño of Santa Fe, Amanda Marquez and Nick Montoya of Rio Chama and her son, Xavier Marquez, Steven and Cassandra Romero of Alcalde and their children Damien, Aaron and Atreyo; great- grandparents, Mary Maestas of Rio Chama, Natividad Romero of Española, Cipriano and Charlotte Martinez of Alcalde, Vitalia Maestas of Rio Chama and Manuel Maestas of Rio Chama and many more relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Okay Owingeh. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with burial to follow at La Vallita Cemetery in Alcalde.
