Eric Martinez

Beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, ERIC MICHAEL MARTINEZ, 38, a resident of the Shadow Mountain area, was called home on Thursday, June 22, 2017.  Eric was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Edward and Stella Martinez; maternal grandfather, Frank Benjamin Heusi II, and aunt Matilda Irvin.  Eric was born on March 31, 1979 in LaPorte, Indiana to Edward and Elizabeth Martinez and was a graduate of Pojoaque High School, Class of 1997.  He worked along with his father Edward Martinez at the TG&Y store in Española.  While working at Cities of Gold Casino he met his wife, Vivica Martinez and they married on May 17, 2008.  Eric also worked at Akal Security, Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs, North Central Solid Waste Authority, Peter’s Corp, and Abiquiu Inn.  Eric became Legacy Boxing Promotions promoter with the intention of taking care of fighters in and out of state.  He was always striving to build a business that would provide for his family and others.   Eric, with an enormous heart and perseverance, was taught never to give up on dreams.  He was a business man, determined in what he set out to accomplish.  Eric was a dedicated Raider and Laker fan and enjoyed fishing with his dad.  He was a devoted husband to his wife and a loving father to his two princesses.  The life values he taught them will be remembered and cherished.  Eric gave everything he had to whoever was in need and had a way that made everyone who met him love him.  He had many friends that soon became family and would be so proud of you for showing how much you care, especially during this time of sorrow.  Eric, beyond anything written here, was a man of God.  He knew and loved Jesus.  He was a member of the church council and spokesperson for Victory Faith Church in Española where he and Vivica were baptized on September 9, 2009.  Eric is now with his Lord Jesus in Heaven.  He is survived by his wife, Vivica Martinez; daughters, Gabriella Lynn and Serenity Faye; parents, Edward and Elizabeth, mother-in-law, Bertha Gonzales; brother/sisters, Elias Martinez and wife Kayla, Edward Cardenas, Ersuela Marquart and husband John, and Eddica Martinez; maternal grandma, Barbara Helen Heusi; God-parents, Mary and Michael Buchanan; God-son, Elias Martinez; and many aunts, uncles, and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Victory Faith Church in Española with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated immediately after at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at the Loma Vista Cemetery in Alcalde with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Elias Martinez, Jason Montgomery, Tony Valdez, Joe Crofts, Mark Peacock, and Jordan Perez with Gabriella, Serenity, Elias, Brandon, Christopher, Elianna Martinez, Cameron Marquart, and Ava, Evan and Elsa Cardenas as honorary pallbearers. The family of Eric Michael Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral & Crematory of the Española Valley.
