Eremita - Age 106 - La Puebla / Cundiyo Vigil

Eremita Vigil, 106, a resident of La Puebla, originally of Cundiyo, NM went home to be with our Lord, on September 19, 2010, peacefully with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her father, Jose Simon Vigil; mother, Beatrice Lopez; husband, Marcos T. Vigil; sons, Lorenzo Vigil and Fidel Vigil; daughter, Martina Martinez; brothers Damacio Vigil, Tomas Vigil, Liborio Vigil, Elias Vigil, Emiterio Vigil and numerous grandchildren. Eremita is survived by her daughters, Alicia Abeyta-Vigil, Anita Ortiz and husband Orlando and Rosalia Chavez and husband Silver; sisters, Leonardita Vigil, Grabielita Ortega and Celina Rivera; sister-in-law, Amelia Vigil and Martina Vigil; son-in-law, Wences Abeyta; 27 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and many great, great-grandchildren and numerous other loving relatives and friends too many to mention. A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo with burial to take place at Cundiyo Community Cemetery. Assisting the family as pallbearers will be Vences Abeyta Jr., James Abeyta, Mark Vigil, Gabriel Ortiz, Silviano Chavez, Dean Chavez, Frankie Martinez and Mel Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be Orlando Ortiz, Merejildo Ortega, Gilbert Rivera, Jake Vigil, Eddie Vigil and Beatrice Martinez. The family of Eremita Vigil would like to extend a special thanks to Addus HealthCare, Hospice-Ambercare, Father Roca, Father Julio, Peggy Vargas, The DeVargas Funeral Home and all her grandchildren who assisted with her care during her final days. The family of Eremita Vigil has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
